Knox County Revamps Infrastructure, Improves HVAC Systems in County Buildings
Knoxville, Tennessee made some waves when they announced in August that they are undertaking a $16.2 million project to upgrade Knox County’s aging infrastructure. With the focus on going green, Knoxville is revamping its infrastructure in an attempt to cut its energy costs. If everything goes according to plan, the county’s energy costs will be reduced by approximately 36%.
Part of this plan involves the installation of high efficiency heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in approximately a quarter of the county facilities. By replacing outdated and inefficient HVAC systems, the county not only cuts down on costs and emissions, but also increases the comfort level in those buildings.
HVAC Contractors and Students at HVAC Schools Benefit from These Plans
This plan is a boon to local HVAC contractors. Considering the scope of the work, a significant amount of resources will have to be pulled to revamp one fourth of the county buildings.
With the increasing focus on going green and reducing waste, it wouldn’t be surprising to see other areas follow Knoxville’s lead. California, for one, has been trying to increase their efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint for a while.
Projects like this are great reason to enroll in an air conditioning school. By enrolling in the Refrigeration School, Inc. today, you can help prepare yourself for green technology projects that may come down the pipeline in the future.
