Valuable Resources for HVAC Job Seekers

hvac technician job resources

No matter what area of heating, ventilation or air-conditioning a HVAC technician decides to work in, her or she should find available job opportunities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) 1, job growth in this field will be faster than the average with about 21 percent more technicians needed in 2022 from those needed in 2012. This growth is due to an increase in construction projects in both commercial and residential settings. Moreover, innovative technology will see new HVAC systems replacing older ones. HVAC technicians who have completed vocational HVAC training will be in particular demand.

Here are a few resources that will simplify the job search for HVAC techs once they finish training and are ready to step foot into the marketplace:

RSI Career Services

Those who are currently enrolled in or have already graduated from an HVAC training program at The Refrigeration School can take advantage of RSI’s career services. In addition to helping students with resume writing and interviewing techniques, the Career Services Department can refer students to job fairs and offer networking opportunities with local businesses. All these resources are included for RSI students. The Career Services Department works with Arizona-based and nation-wide skilled trade employers to help RSI graduates find a job they trained for.

The HVAC Web Connection is an online community for HVAC technicians. The site links to the latest news within the industry, as well as to helpful products and services. The site also provides career advice regarding resume writing, job interviews, and salary information.

This also gives potential employees a chance to introduce themselves prior meeting employers in person.

It is a competitive service that accepts only about half of the applications that are submitted to the site. Since its inception in 2002, HVACAgent has matched 2,580,000 applications with employers.

Career Builder: While this website has job offers for many industries, it also has a specific section for those looking for HVAC jobs. For instance, there were 8,473 jobs listed just under the category “HVAC technicians” in February 2015. The site provides an opportunity for narrowing the search to a certain city or state or by subspecialty categories.

Simply Hired: This is a similar site to Career Builder in that a job seeker can look for jobs by industry or by keywords to narrow the job search to a specific specialty. According to a recent search, there were more than 100,000 jobs listed in the broad category of HVAC Technicians.
